Respiration is a natural function of our body. But bad odor is NOT.
It does not matter where the smell comes from: your armpits, mouth or feet. It is your body’s way of telling you that you have toxins in your system.
If you sweat a lot, it is good news. That means that your body is working how it should, trying to cleanse your body of those toxins.
Remember, that it is always better to get rid of these toxins than to trap them inside.
That is why we should not try to block perspiration by any means.
And when you are on a healthy diet comprised primarily of fruits and vegetables, you will have fewer toxins in your body. So it is a natural consequence that your sweat will not smell as much (something to think about).
Would you rather use products full of chemicals to block bad body smell or would you try to do it naturally through proper nutrition?
Toxins in Your Deodorant
Most people are becoming more aware of the toxins and harmful chemicals contained in food.
I know that I actively avoid food that has preservatives, GMOs, animal byproducts or any product that is derived through animal testing.
But it took me longer than I care to admit to realize that many of the products we use everyday can be similarly toxic, harmful and problematic.
For instance, the deodorant that you see on shelves around the nation contains so many toxic chemicals. It is amazing some of these products are allowed into deodorant that is sold to men, women and children.
Parabens is one of the toxic chemicals found in deodorant. Many products use it as a preservative, but it is terrible for the body. Women are especially advised to STAY AWAY from any product containing parabens, because it is said to disrupt hormonal balances. It is also linked to both breast and prostate cancer.
Another chemical you may want to stay away from is propylene glycol. It is another additive can be found in almost every commercial deodorant. In fact, some deodorant manufacturers have 50 percent of the product made from propylene glycol!
Why is it so bad for you? Because it harms the central nervous system, while it is also linked to liver, kidney and heart problems.
There is some controversy around the inclusion of aluminum compounds in deodorant. Much like other heavy metals, aluminum is said to interfere with estrogen receptors in the body. It is also linked to breast cancer and an increased risk of Alzheimer’s.
It is incredible that a chemical the FDA classifies as a PESTICIDE, triclosan, is used in deodorant. It is added to many commercial deodorants for its antibacterial and preservative properties. But when this product reacts with tap water, it can create chloroform gas! It is safe to say you should steer clear of deodorants with triclosan
Below is a list that I came up with of vegan, cruelty-free and natural deodorants that actually work.
These are not the gimmicky products of the past. They totally work! You get the same odor-free experience of regular deodorant, but none of the harmful chemicals.
